Summary0000654: Picture freezes when switching video streams with D3D11 native
DescriptionWhen using D3D11 native decode, if the media being played has multiple video streams available, then switching between them during playback freezes the picture. You see two frames from the previously chosen video stream that flicker back and forth. The OSD correctly displays the information about the new video stream, and if you use a TV tuning app, you also hear the audio for the new channel and see the information in the OSD for the new channel video.
Pausing or seeking does not fix it and the only way is to stop playback.
Steps To Reproduce- Set LAV Video Decoder to D3D11 native
- Play media with multiple video streams, here is a sample: https://filehorst.de/d/dIheueFg (bonus from a Blu-ray). This also happens if you zap between different channels with a TV tuning app that supports madVR.
- Try switching video streams with the file playback, or change channel with the TV app
Additional InformationAlso happens with:
- HDR test build v113, and earlier madVR versions since 0.92.0
- previous MediaPortal versions
- previous NVIDIA driver versions
- on a Radeon HD 7870 with identical software config, all driver versions
- previous Windows 10 versions

- Only happens with D3D11 native (not selectable in the bug report form)
- Happens with both progressive and interlaced media
- Happens with both MPEG2 and H.264 (did not test HEVC)
- Happens both if the new video stream is of different dimensions/framerate, and if it is exactly the same

- Does not happen with MPC Video Renderer with D3D11 native decode when using the same software config, so would indicate the problem is on madVR side and not LAV
