Summary0000225: Poor chroma quality when image doubling is used
DescriptionOriginally thought to be an issue specific to downscaling when NNEDI3 image doubling is active, it seems that chroma quality can suffer when NNEDI3 image doubling is used without also enabling chroma doubling at the same number of neurons.

This is quite apparent with white text on a red background.
Steps To Reproduce1. Enable NNEDI3 image doubling
2. Set luma scaling to Nearest Neighbor (happens with anything, this is most obvious)
3. Display an image with white text on a red background
Additional InformationVisibility/severity seems to vary depending on the combination of scaling algorithms used.
If 720p is being doubled to 1440p, then downscaled to 1080p, the effect can be quite pronounced.

I have had to recreate the original test image, as I no longer had a copy of it, and this one does not seem to show the problem as clearly for some reason.

As I see it, the main issue here is that enabling both luma and chroma doubling can be quite GPU intensive for little benefit other than avoiding this artifact showing up in rare circumstances.

Everything seems to be working correctly, it's just an unfortunate artifact that can sometimes appear from this combination of settings. (luma doubling without chroma doubling)
