Summary0000354: NNEDI3 causes artifacts in exclusive mode on 720p
DescriptionI recently upgraded to the latest version of madVR & MPC-HC and now any 720p or lower video I play in either full screen or exclusive mode causes major artifacts. This happens when NNEDI3 is selected for screen doubling regardless of what decoder is used (none/xvda/cuvid). It also makes the display driver kernel crash at random if I keep the video running
Steps To ReproduceChoosing any NNEDI3 option under image doubling.

This is very likely a GPU driver issue. Please try reinstalling the driver, or updating to a newer or older version.

Nope, I'm having these issues too with a GTX 760, just updated the drivers to the latest along with the latest madVR and MPC-HC, on Windows 10

It's still very likely a GPU driver issue. The latest drivers aren't always the best. Unfortunately NNEDI3 uses OpenCL which gets broken all the time in NVidia drivers.

If we're talking about upscaling high quality content (e.g. upscaling Blu-Rays to 4K), try using NGU instead. It's better than NNEDI3 for high quality content. For low quality content NNEDI3 might produce better results (less artifacts), though.

Yeah, I had some year-old drivers and had the issue so I updated and they're still there. That sucks.

Sadly, I'm using it for upscaling DVDs to 1080p and yeah, NGU kinda enhances the artefacts of DVD compression (blocking, etc.)

You could try x86 vs x64 media players. Sometimes the issue is only in one bitdepth.

NNEDI3 was removed in the latest madVR version, because now NGU Anti-Aliasing is better looking, faster and more stable.
