Summary | 0000427: Taskbar playback buttons placed behind taskbar with FSE enabled
Description | I refer to the playback controls in the Zoom Player taskbar icon. I have found a way to reliably break them - ie cause them to stop displaying until I restart Zoom - on my system. This is with madVR, with FSE enabled. With FSE disabled, or another renderer (EVR), problem does not occur.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Open Zoom, fullscreen to the second display and play a video. Not sure if this is a Win 10 only thing or not, can't test other Windows versions. 2. Mouse over the taskbar and ensure the controls are displaying. 3. Double click a file in File Explorer to get Zoom to start playing it instead. 4. Mouse over the taskbar - the Zoom thumbnail still shows, but sans the playback controls. I am speculating here - but rather than being completely gone, they may be displayed under the taskbar. 5. Taking Zoom out of fullscreen, or playing another file does not restore the controls - only a complete Zoom restart will fix it.

The problem is (once again) that it's hard to say if this is a bug in madVR or not, because we don't have anything to compare this to. I suppose if you disable FSE mode, the problem goes away? If ZP had another video renderer with FSE support, it would be much easier to double check whether a specific issue only occurs with madVR or not. Generally, this appears to be a failure in the ZP controls. So IMHO the first dev to talk to would be Blight. After all, *his* control has stopped working, not mine. Of course it could be my fault, but it's much harder for me to debug why HIS control doesn't work than it his for him. So maybe he can look into it, and at least figure out the reason why it stops working? If he finds that madVR does something specific that breaks his control, I can look into it. |
