Summary | 0000491: Enhanced Sync with D3D11 Presentation causes nonstop driver crash
Description | The Enhanced Sync feature introduced in the new AMD 17.7.2 GPU driver (only for Polaris) causes the driver to crash repeatedly over and over again in a specific situation. The situation calls for the D3D11 Presentation to be enabled and the video player to be in borderless fullscreen mode.
Additional Information | Disabling D3D11 Presentation will cause video playback to be "stuck" on a frame while audio playback continues. A workaround is to add a profile in Radeon Settings for the video player and disabling Enhanced Sync on that profile.

Note that when the GPU driver begins crashing, the crashing won't stop by pausing the video. It'll only stop when the video player exits borderless fullscreen mode. Additionally in a non-extensive test, this bug does not occur when madVR is set to use exclusive fullscreen. |
|
This sounds very much like a driver bug to me. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about it. Since it's the driver that's crashing, have you tried contacting AMD support about this? FWIW, Enhanced Sync has zero benefit for madVR, so disabling it should be no harm at all. |
