Summary | 0000069: Error when processing FLAC files created by flaccl
Description | When trying to convert a FLAC file created by flaccl to a FLAC file created by eac3to (for testing bit-perfectness of flaccl files) I get the following error message: "An error in the stream caused the FLAC decoder to lose synchronization. Aborted at file position 3145728." Command line used: eac3to bug_file.flac test_r.flac Attached is a file extract of the original using HxD. Note: first I tried to use the software FLAC cutter to get a smaller piece of the file, but then eac3to worked fine. I realized then that FLAC cutter created a 16 bit file, while the original is a 24 bit one, so, maybe it's a problem with 24 bit files...
Additional Information | I have used flaccl 2.1.5, which you can get from here: http://www.cuetools.net/install/CUETools_2.1.5.zip

Hmmmm... Are you sure this is a bug in eac3to? If the "official" FLAC decoder (= libFlac, used by eac3to) can't handle this file, it's likely to be broken, no? |
|
No. To be honest, I think it might be a broken file, because in flaccl's thread there was a post saying that files other than 44.1kHz are not OK, but since it played fine with madFlac I was curious to know if you are doing anything different in madFlac from what you are doing in eac3to... Aren't you using "official" FLAC code in madFlac? |
|
In theory I use the same libFlac in both. I'm not sure why there is a difference. Oh well, I'll have a look... |
|
Just to let you know that the latest flaccl version fixed the problems with the multiple channels files, and now eac3to can read the files perfectly. If you want, you could still take a look into the sample to see why madFlac was working but eac3to not, but since it seems it was a broken file maybe it would not be worth it for you to waste time with that, so, you can close this bug entry, or even remove it, as you prefer. |

Good to hear, thanks. |
