Summary | 0000074: Switching between fullscreen and windowed mode is very slow with large decoder queue sizes
Description | With large decoder queue sizes (e.g. 128) it takes several seconds for the image to update when switching between fullscreen and windowed mode. Disabling "delay playback start until render queue is full" has little impact. (as you might expect, being limited to a maximum of 24 frames)

Switching is instantaneous on my PC with a CPU queue of 128 frames. Not sure why it isn't for you. Maybe you can try to find out whether it only occurs in specific circumstances? A short log might help... Is it that slow only when switching in one direction or is it slow in both directions? |
P.S: It might have to do with DXVA2 copyback? Try software decoding... |
I should have mentioned that I also tried software decoding, with the same result. |
Well, all I can say is that I can't reproduce this problem on my PC. Can you please create a short log file which contains the long switching delay? |
Do you happen to already use the new xy-vsfilter based on the new subtitle interface? |
Switching is slow in both directions. The log should cover switching from fullscreen mode to windowed, and back. It also has me stop playback in Media Center (which stays at 24Hz) and then quit Media Center & Media Server. (required to restore the desktop refresh rate) I am not using xy-vsfilter, I am using Media Center's built in subtitle renderer, and subtitles should not have been active. |
You didn't tell me that you have FSE mode disabled, and that you have configured madVR to switch display modes when the media player enters/leaves fullscreen. With this configuration I can reproduce the issue. Will see if I can find/fix the problem... |
This will be fixed in v0.86.3. |
